Marquette signee Junior Cadougan pumped in 27 points as Christian Life Academy used its superior height advantage to pull away for a 76-69 win over tournament host West Anchorage.
The team improved to 19-0 on the season, but it wasn’t always easy.
The Eagles scored the first 10 points coming out of halftime to give West a 43-40 advantage.
West’s Tom Feeney Jr. bagged a game-high 29 points and sank three clutch 3-pointers in the final quarter to keep the game close.
The Eagles came within two points twice from tying the game in the final quarter, but never took the lead. They pulled within three points 72-69, with Ethan Zinck’s putback of Devon Bookert’s missed layup with 1:25 to go.
Feeney and Zinck each shot potentially game-tying 3-pointers with less than 30 seconds, but both attempts bounced off the rim.
Christian Life turned up the intensity in the end, sinking 3 of 4 free throws and a layup to become the third straight Outside team to win the tournament title.
