Parker Davis poured in 11 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter to lead Windermere Prep of Florida to a 72-62 victory in the championship game of the Alaska Airlines Classic.
The school is just down the road from Disney World in Orlando, but Saturday night Davis made the West Anchorage gymnasium his world.
He took over when the game mattered most, twice scoring the go-ahead bucket in the fourth quarter. He made 8-of-13 shots from inside the perimeter. And his eight free throws were more than all the Eagles combined.
Michael Stones added 17 points for Windermere and Isaiah Curry scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Back in the Classic title game for the first time since 2011, West surged ahead 22-10 after the first quarter.
The Eagles led 50-46 early in the fourth quarter. Then the Windermere Lakers went ahead 54-50.
West responded with a 9-0 run thanks to a 3 from Da’Zhon Wyche and then three straight baskets by DJ Harrison and Devonaire Doutrive.
That’s when Parker took over, sealing the deal with six points in the final three minutes.
DJ Harrison led West with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Other double-digit scorers were Wyche [12] and Devante Doutrive [10].
