Girls Classic Day 3: West 58, Point Hope 36

West’s Lupe’Lani Vaaia and Neolani Quitugua-Banks each scored nine points as the Eagles ran away from the Tikigaq Harpoonerettes of Point Hope 58-36 at West High.

West led 20-12 after the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 39-18 at halftime.

The Eagles finished the girls Classic with a 3-0 record to win the round-robin tournament title.

Tonya Karpow (8), Jordan Zackery (7), Juliette Adlawan (5) and Michelle Gust (5) were strong on the boards to help West outrebound Point Hope 43-23.

Vaaia, Quitugua-Banks and Matagi Maugaoteg each hit 3-pointers.

Point Hope’s Jennifer Nash and Kasey Oviok each netted 10 points. Nash added five rebounds, five assists and three steals in another strong performance by the freshman guard.
