The Lynx raced out to a big lead and didn’t take their foot off the pedal to three quarters en route to a 54-30 victory in consolation action of the Alaska Airlines Classic at West High.

Luke Johnston led the way with 12 points to lead four players in double figures.

Marek Hajdukovich (11), Maguire Hamey (11) and Xzavier Baker (10) – all members of historic Alaska basketball families – joined him in double digits.

Amari Hill had seven points and one rim-shaking slam.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Hajdukovich pumped up the score to 38-17.

Dimond (9-3) held Colony to one field goal in the third quarter, and that came in the final minute.

Kash Luce led Colony with 13 points and Jayce Underwood added nine points. Both players had four steals.

The Knights came into the Classic with an 8-1 record but have suffered back-to-back losses in a strong field. Look for a big bounce back from the Knights, who are seeking to win a Classic game for the third consecutive tournament under coach Thomas Berg.

Berg led Colony to the 2019 tournament title, just one of four Alaska teams to claim the Classic championship.

On Saturday, Dimond will play Lathrop in the fourth-place game at 4:30 p.m. and Colony will face Juneau in the seventh-place at 3 p.m. Both games are at West High.
